Ganesh is the elephant headed god of wisdom and success. He is one of the sons of Shiva and Parvati. He is known as "Sidhi Data" or bestower of success in the work. His elephant head has only one full tusk, while the other is broken. He is said to have lost it in a fight with Parasuram. It is also said that he broke it to write the Mahabharata to the dictation of sage Vyasa. His elephant head is believed to be an emblem of wisdom and his mount an emblem of sagacity. His mount is "Mooshika" called shrew. He is also known as Vinyaka.
This image is made from a wax model which melts during the copper casting process. The 'lost wax' method results in enhanced detail, life expression and refined finish.
